Marvin is a young and very large 10? month old German Shepherd boy. Marvin came into rescue with very little prior training. He was accustomed to testing the limits of his boundaries and getting his way. With lack of leadership Marvin would assume that roll and tend to use his mouth to gain attention and control situations. Since coming into rescue Marvin has responded well to structure and leadership. Marvin rarely mouths and has actually shown to be quite soft, obedient and responsive to verbal commands and corrections. If you see Marvin doing something you don’t like, all you really need do is raise your voice and he’ll come to you to ask forgiveness. Marvin really enjoys attention and the love he gets from his people. He was a favorite during his stay at the vet. He’s pretty much a big goofy boy and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Marvin is quite treat motivated and eager to learn. He now knows to sit for treats and is crate trained for when his foster dad is away at work and for sleeping overnight. Marvin has not shown to resource guard, chew excessively nor be destructive and he’s never had a potty accident in the house nor crate. Marvin lives in foster with several male and female large breed dogs, primarily other German Shepherds also a Malinois and Husky. Marvin does well living in a pack environment, he interacts and plays well, is of mostly neutral temperament although he can sometimes pick and prod at other dogs to play and get a reaction. Typical juvenile male behavior. Marvin has been tested with horses and cats and passed with flying colors. Videos can be provided. All in all Marvin would be a great family dog for a family with older kids, leadership skills and large breed experience.
