Esmeralda, or Esme, is a fun, energetic girl that loves to go for walks, play fetch and be part of the action! She loves to run and play with her foster siblings (and every other dog she meets!), lounge around on the couch with her foster mom and go for car rides to the park! Esme is a typical German Shepherd girl and can be protective, but that’s why we loves this breed! Proper intros need to be done with new people until she knows they can be trusted.

Esme would love a home with a new furry brother so she can play, play, play, but she would do well as an only pet also. Esme is good with kids, dogs & cats. She is kennel trained, current on vaccines, microchipped and heartworm negative.

Esme came to us due to concerns about a heart murmur. After we did some imaging, it was found that she has a slightly enlarged heart. She does not currently have any restrictions and the vet is confident she will live a long and happy life.

Esme will need an understanding home that will help her find her confidence in a new setting and give her the time she needs to transition to a new routine.  Esme submissively urinates when brought outside of her comfort zone. Continuous training and confidence building is key to dissolving the behavior. It took a couple months for her to stop the submissive urination when first going into a foster home, but once she realized the humans aren’t so terrible, and settled into the routine, it stopped.
